Offsetting Fuel Costs to Retain Competitive Edge for Exports
A. Sakthivel President ,Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), while commenting on the decontrol in Petrol prices which will now be market to market driven and diesel prices which will be subject to review every 20 days, stated that  it would have an adverse impact on industry as erratic supply of electricity in the industrial areas makes exporting  units more dependent on diesel /fuel and hence the measure to decontrol would result in escalation of input costs very significantly in turn making products less competitive for exports in the international markets.

USTR Kirk Comments on Generalized System of Preferences Review
Commenting on the release of Obama Administration’s Annual Review under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) programme, United States Trade Representative (USTR) Ron Kirk said, “GSP is central to our trade agenda and critical to developing countries’ continued growth and development. In our annual review, USTR worked to make sure GSP is working as it should, assessing GSP beneficiaries’ development, export competitiveness, and domestic policy practices. A well-functioning GSP program can help developing countries grow their export industries while providing U.S. businesses the inputs and products they need to keep good jobs here at home.”
