US Retail Industry Sales May Grow 3.4 % in 2012: NRF Forecast
Though stubbornly high unemployment and continued uncertainty over the prospects for job growth will continue to dampen the outlook for industry retail sales growth in 2012, the retail industry will still grow at a rate faster than many other industries. This year, retail industry sales will rise 3.4 % to $ 2.53 trillion, according to the National Retail Federation – slightly lower than the pace of 2011, in which sales grew 4.7 %. Many economists estimate that real U.S. GDP will rise approximately 2.1 to 2.4 %.

Banks to Accept FCR in lieu of B/Lading for Negotiations Even If Sales Contract Does Not Say So 
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided that banks may accept Forwarder’s Cargo Receipts (FCR) issued by IATA approved agents, in lieu of bill of lading, for negotiation/collection of shipping documents, in respect of export transactions backed by letters of credit, if the relative  letter of credit specifically provides for negotiation of this document in lieu of bill of lading even if the relative sale contract with the overseas buyer does not provide for acceptance of FCR as a shipping document, in lieu of bill of lading.

US Apparel Import Volumes Tumble in Jan-Oct 2011, Yet Higher Unit Values Show Imports Growing, India too Posts nearly 9 % Growth Despite Exporting 5 % Less in Volumes
U.S. apparel imports during Jan-Oct 2011 went down 1.60 % to 20.51 bn SME, compared to Jan-Oct 2010. In value terms, however, the imports posted a growth of 10.59 % from $ 60.19 bn to $ 66.57 bn.

EU Imports Record over 12 % Growth in Jan-Sep 2011, Indian Exports Rose nearly 14 % - Increased UVR Made it Possible 
EU apparel imports during Jan-September 2011 were up 12.26 % at € 105.74 bn, as against € 94.19 bn of Jan-September 2010. Imports of woven apparel, during the period, were up 13.23 % to € 54.32 bn, while for knitted apparel, the imports went up 11.25 % to € 51.41 bn.
